Captain of the watch is also a nice addition if you plan on going on the Soldier tokens route. Evangel of Heliod and Myr battlesphere do a lot - a lot - of work, and the Splicers are pretty nice, too, and so is Precursor golem. So I just switched to playing a small token subtheme instead. I've had my Brago deck for quite some time now, and I changed it from the original, ruthless version, which was a more controll-y one (stuff like Glen-Elendra Archmage, Act of Authority, Reality Acid, Parallax Wave and Tide) to a more voltron variant, which was, again, not that well received (turns out that consistently having a 6+ power Brago with a couple swords attached to him and protection from either most colours or some sort of landwalk/ unblockable of is frowned upon in my meta mass removal is an abstract concept to them). What are you thoughts? I'm looking at the cards in the sideboard right now as possible options but I'm really uncertain what to pull or which way I should take the deck from here.īrago can really easily shift from being a really nice and fun build-around-me commander to being regarded as overpowered and not fun to play against. And of course my favorite line in the deck: swinging in with just Brago, while Sovereigns is on the field, fetching Treachery onto Brago then flickering it off of his trigger to land it on the opponent's commander and untap up to ten lands. Of course there are certain control pieces I just couldn't say no to: ] has a particularly brutal interaction with Brago that doesn't really exist outside of this deck. The result is a bit of an aura subtheme that really gets it's gas from ] and ]. Instead I looked at some of the other interesting abilities on Azorius cards and tried to pick some stuff that fits my play style: combat oriented play with an emphasis on doing fun, sometimes goofy things. I've shifted the structure of the deck list a little bit away from the control I was running before (pulling early ETB like ] and ] as well as ]). The thing I kept hearing is "I just don't have fun playing against that deck." It's a phrase that I know sounds dirty, but one I genuinely sympathize with, and I want to make my deck fun for my friends to play against.

I put a lot of ETB control in the deck, partly intentionally, partly as a result of wanting to play the best cards and keep my deck from getting stalled. I built my first draft of the deck with him at the helm and the reaction in my play group was primarily negative. Ever since drafting conspiracy he's seemed like a card with a lot of potential for commander. I recently picked up a copy of ] in a mass trade with my friend.
