I asked to substitute rice for a baked potato and our waitress said it would be no problem. It came topped with pesto and cheese and was delicious. I ordered the healthy broiled fish instead of the fried fish. The boring decor and bland food of FDR's was gone and a fabulous restaurant with a sleek and clean looking style was reborn. There aren't many restaurants within a 15 minute drive for us, so when the old FDR's reopened as The Fireside Grill, we were anxious to try it. Watching the world cup there was awesome! They do have several large flat-screen TV's, but unlike many other sports bars, they are not kept at an obnoxious volume level where people cannot have a conversation. The decor is eclectic, the seating is a variety of tables/chairs that compliment the warm colors and double-sided fireplace in the front room. Although touted as a sports bar and grill, the interior is far from that.

Their desserts are fresh and they serve a ice cream with fried dough dish that could also be a meal in itself. You may pay a dollar or two more than a diner, but for the quality of food - it is well worth it! The nachos with toppings are served on a huge platter and can feed two people as an entire meal! They make their own blended condiments on some of their sandwiches, which is usually a favorite. We've gone to the Fireside since they've opened and they make some of the freshest and tastiest food around. As a side, we decided to both go with the "fireslaw," a spicy coleslaw that was amazing! Overall, our dinner was very good! Our server Jenna was very attentive and friendly as well! The other side of the building was a bar with quite an extensive beer list! There were a lot of TVs that we agreed we'd love to come back and watch a game. My husband ordered the beer battered while I had the Cajun broiled. Being that it was a Friday, we decided to both order the fish fry. The nachos were some of the best that we've had and we hope they stay on the menu. The nachos were very delicious with the perfect amount of spicy, fresh jalapenos! If spicy is not your thing, a couple sitting close to us decided to forgot the jalapenos. We first ordered cocktails off the cocktail list and then ordered an appetizer off of the Specials menu, the Buffalo chicken nachos. They have long tables in the front for large parties and then a room towards the back with smaller tables. My husband and I visited this restaurant this past Friday and were pleasantly surprised with our experience! The outside is deceiving but once you walk in they have it styled very modern.
